Nobody likes moving. It's a hassle and typically difficult to keep your belongings organized while packing your boxes, especially when those boxes can't handle their loads or are falling apart. For moving or storage, boxes that are sturdy, reinforced and designed to hold specific items are ideal. The better the box, the more secure will your items be. And since those boxes don’t always get unpacked right away (sometimes boxes for moving become storage containers for years to come), it makes sense to buy moving boxes that are built for not only the upcoming journey from here to there but also for changes in climate, wear that results from handling and stacking, and ease of access.
Easy access to your items is best when you label what’s in each box and when the right items are placed in the correct size and quality of box. For instance, it is a good idea to place china glassware in small tightly packed containers, and properly labeled (we have what you need at our Strongbox facilities) to guard against breakage and confusion. Conversely, larger items should go in specialized boxes that are sure to stand up to the heavier loads. When you buy moving boxes for lighter, larger items, you should select quality boxes that are large enough to accommodate the item. Again, labeling is critical.
Once you’ve packed your items, it makes sense to create a list of what you’ll be moving and/or storing. If you have made a list of everything that’s been boxed up, you’ll eliminate guesswork. There’s nothing more frustrating than not being able to find an item when you need it, and there’s nothing more disheartening than misplacing a valued item. Guard against both of these scenarios with a simple list, make copies of it for other point persons, and store the list in a secure place.
